Muscatine

Just got back from a bike (people powered & air cooled) ride around Muscatine, only maybe 10 miles (I know but it was the first of the season), I noticed along the route taken there were a lot of people that seemed to just be driving around, you know out for a drive on a Spring night.

I am guessing the price of gas isn't too high yet.

Unbelievable. 

i've been working up in Davenport for the last two years. 

i love my job, and I really like most of the people I work with.  But, gas prices have finaly gotten high enough that I can't afford the drive anymore.  I couldn't believe how much they went up just in the six weeks I was on maternity leave.  So, a job happened to open up just about a mile from my house.  I applied for it and got it.  It'll be nice to not have to drive so far everyday, but I really hate leaving my job.  I've worked for this company for over ten years, and they've taken pretty good care of me.  I don't drive anywhere anymore unless I absolutely have to, the thought of just going out for a drive just for something to do kind of astounds me.  Ah, well.  Now I can ride my bike and at least have the satisfaction of knowing I'm doing something good for the environment.

I wish i could ride my bike to work but it's down the highway and there are no sidewalks. I heard on the news the other day that Washington is going green, great idea but I think they are going to use our green to line their pockets and look good. I am all for helping but it has to be effort with more than the U.S..

They're not going green, they're trying to pass a "Carbon Tax Bill" that will do NOTHING but raise energy costs even higher. If passed you will see gas prices rise anywhere from $1.60 to as much as $3.00 per gallon and it will limit the amount of energy we can use.

I guess one of the requirements to be in congress is that you have to possess absolutely no common sense.

"Gas prices are out of control?"

"Well then, we'll levy higher taxes on it."

"A, duh, yeah boss, dats a great ideer!"

I suggest calling Harkin and Grassley and tell them to vote "NO" on the Carbon Tax Bill.
