Ok, so tell me why didn't the current sheriff back his number two for the job?

Did this cause the #2 to run on the other ticket?

This is a "no brainer."  Orr is now backing Ryan.  If Ryan was worth anything, Orr would have made him the Chief Deputy instead of Dave (I wish I had a brain) White.  So, Ryan and White get together and hatch a plan (I'm certain they had help since it took a bit of thinking) the plan is that White will jump the Republican ship and hope all the Democrats are dumb enough to believe that he really wants to be a Democrat.  Ryan will run as a Republican with Orr as his backer, Ryan will win, and White will remain the Chief Deputy.  Or, in the unlikely event that Dave (I used to be a fire chief OOOH) White wins, he will make Ryan his First Deputy.  Are you seeing the big picture here?
