Sir, the difference is, that to belong to the VFW, you have to have served IN a war, and, got the combat metal to prove it. I.E., Korea, Viet Nam, Afganistan, etc. To belong to the American Legion, you have to serve DURING some of those times. There are some other qualifications, but, in a nutshell, that is the gist of it. And, though, I DO agree with you. A Vet IS a Vet!
