I just wanted to drop a note, for any of you who knew, and/or had any dealings with Darrel "Sarge" Miller. Sarge passed away on Memorial Day. Darrel managed, and pretty well run, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1565, here in Muscatine, for the past 25+ years. He headed up the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Weed Park, help put together the Firing Squads for our fallen Veterans. Ran VFW Bingo EVERY Monday AND Saturday night, with his passed wife Marie, for the same amount of time, and was a dear friend and comrad to most of us that belonged to the Post. For any of you that care, services are pending at the George M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, on Mulberry Avenue, here in Muscatine. He will be dearly missed by hundreds of bingo players, and Veterans alike. Few people realize the amount of work "Sarge" did, behind the scenes to help youth stay out of trouble, and, to help those Veterans that knew not where to go, to get help within the Veterans Administration.
Darrel, you will TRUELY be missed! I just hope that we can ATTEMPT to carry on your legacy! Your fellow Comrad, Past Commander, and Life Member. Tom Milder.
