And, please don't think I was trying to say something negative about you, 'cause I really like the pictures that you post.  I was just wondering if you would get screwed over if they did decide to use everybodys ranking as a deciding factor in whether they were allowed to post pictures or not.

You know, that brings a question to mind.  When someone does report a post, how exactly is that handled??  Are any questions asked about whether that post is actually offensive, or is it just blindly taken that the person reporting it doesn't have an axe to grind?  Could I decide that I want to get soemone banned just because I don't like them, and just report every post that they make??  That just doesn't seem right.

Sounds like blackmail don't it. I like this home town board but hate tip toeing around. There should be a way to notify the board gods if a real need arises but it shouldn't be too easy. Sending a email used to work.

On my other home, you email the board, they notify the offender by email, spelling out the offense. After so many, you'r outa there.

Normally, if programmed by a smart programmer, people's reporting is reviewed/moderated by a human. If the reporting seems valid, then it's +1 (unit) for the reporter (because they recognized bad stuff and reported it) and it's -5 (units) for the poster. In this example each ranking might be 10 points, so if you get reported twice you'll drop a rank. Then posting more will increase your ranking, something like +1 for each day that you make a post and don't get reported.

The responses I just read were ALL SO AWESOME!  The people that responded   were honest w/ nol holds barred.  "Robert", (aka, Tarall, NL), was just as honest & made sense.

It's human nature...WE WANT IT ALL, NOW.  NL is looking at it from a different point of view.  Robert pointed out that they were addressing the boards needs with, "Papa bear, Mama bear, Baby Bear & Goldilocks", in mind.  WHAT a great visual!  I appreciate that!  Had they come in, changed the board AND given ME all sorts of buttons & options... I'd have RUN IN SHEER TERROR!  Cry How many of us have pointed out that we "aren't quite as computer literate as others?"  They are allowing us to get used to this format & work our way up.

WHAT WILL THAT DO TO THIS BOARD?  If the "computer literates are patient & hang on, those of us that want to be involved, just don't know quite how, can be taught by you AND NL".  It's a WIN-WIN situation.

I have ONE more favor to ask of you guys?  Could we please stop worrying about the rating system?  I read your post & judge you on that, not on what another person's rating system is.  That is what I want from all of you.  If you agree, great & if not...CALL ME ON IT.  If you are offensive, I'll call YOU on it, & give you a chance to respond...reporting you would be MY VERY LAST option!  Don't we all deserve that treatment?

BOTTOM LINE IS THIS...  We should be able to get to the point that we can handle our conversations as adults & not need a mediator or a judgment about what "kind of neighbor" we are.
