... there is a certain poster here who posts some really cool pictures that aren't offensive at all, but this particular person has a pretty low ranking.  What would happen in a case like that??

In theory, if that particular person continued to post "good stuff" and did not also post a bunch of things that annoyed the heck out of everybody, that particular person's rank would improve enough that he/she would be able to post photos.

That's the theory anyway.  Right now the ratings system doesn't have a lot of "positive" to go on... number of posts, how long you've been a member, starting popular topics, reporting posts which really are inappropriate.  End result is that doing things which hurt your rating, like posting something that gets reported by a lot of people, or reporting posts which everybody else thinks are OK, hurts your rating (especially if you do it more than once) and it takes quite a while to recover.

And how would that particular person know whether or not that particular person was annoying the heck out of anyone? If annoyed people click on the report button, isn't it too late for this particular person?

Hell Tarrall, I can make your job easier. I'll just post elsewhere. That way you won't have to keep track of the times I "annoy" others.

yeah, we need a way to maybe click 1-5 stars on a post or something. That way I can give nedl a 5 whenever he posts something funny, and a 1 whenever he posts something right-wing. (LOL, kidding!)

But it does seem impossible to get ratings up. I think it should take no more than 2 weeks of positive contribution to improve a level when in the 1-3 range. Although I've been a 4 for a while now, and never a 5 *sigh*
