Over the last few days I have noticed inmates in bright orange clothes helping the parks department. I tip my hat to all those involved that make this happen, its a long overdue program and I hope it continues.

The City has used those folks for quite awhile.  Especially where they can be closely supervised!  What I had experienced in the past, was that they didn't do much unless someone was watching over them very closely!  Tying up a person that could be doing something!  Tom.

I actually saw some of the inmates down on the river front last week, a couple days in fact. And each time I saw them they were not doing a single thing except walking up one side of the parking lot and down the other. I think it is wonderful to put these guys to work but work is what they should be doing not just walking around.

Saw the ORANGE chain gang down at the riverfront by the Clamman last week some time. They were hauling/dumping mulch that day. Also fishing "driftwood" out of the rail around Mr Clammer.

Today while at Greenwood replacing flowers on some grave sites the ORANGE gang was there. They were weedeating around markers, mowing, etc.

If I was in jail I'd jump at the chance to get outside and do this type of work. It would sure beat looking at the bars, four walls, and the other ugly goons in there.

Keep up the good work City of Muscatine and Muscatine County. Looks like the two government groups can play well together when it counts. Any way the cemetary is looking pretty good for this up coming weekend. With the grass all cut, trimmed, new flowers hanging, all the veterans flags a blowing in the wind. Yes sir looks mighty nice, mighty nice.

Added note: A big THANK-YOU goes out to All VETS. Job well done and it is/was much appreiciated.

Roger
