Ah, more senseless, baseless, non-constructive drivel...The reason I usually just read and not type. Sometimes I wonder if it's intelligence that offends people here? nedl, I'm surprised at you...Perhaps you and chosen are upset that I'm trying to help out your forum's jester? God forbid you lose your constant source of entertainment here.
nedl said: "is it personal to you or what."
I'm not sure what "it" is (or if that's even a question for that matter), but assuming that "it" is "America," then yes, it's personal. For anyone who values this nation and desires it's continued success, it serves a much greater purpose to try to get every patriot moving in the same direction and spreading the message of Freedom in the most effective way possible.
Everyone pretends like it's some great civic duty to vote. You've seen the commercials before...The ones encouraging everyone to get out to the polls. There are even big TV "events" for it, and so-called independent groups lobbying everyone to vote with flyers in the mail and signs on the street. That's all hogwash. There is no civic duty in simply voting; there is only civic duty in voting virtuously, in accordance with the Constitution. Anything else is just mob rule by a dumb electorate. Voting for the person who will give you the most "stuff" (usually at the cost of the tax payer or at a loss of civil liberties) makes a mockery of the American system of governance. Hitler was elected democratically, after all...
Who you vote for DOES affect me, and it affects everyone else likewise. If enough people who are ignorant of the Constitution and how the government should be get together and vote a Socialist into office, then yeah, that affects me, and frankly, it pisses me off.
So yeah nedl, I take it personally. It's a shame you apparently don't. I've paid my dues to this nation and her people and I continue to do so. I don't want any thanks, I don't want a pat on the back, a check in the mail or even a holiday I get to take off of work. All I want is for Americans to understand what they've got and protect it in the voting booth so we don't need a repeat of 1775 someday in the future. Thomas Jefferson, like most of the Founders, believed that any of America's ills could be set to right when put in the hands of The People...But he never envisioned a day where most Americans would be completely ignorant of their rights and where they come from, and be completely apathetic about what their government is up to.
It's not a hard concept to grasp, and was the point of my post. It's much better for mobaydave to communicate well than to alienate people who otherwise might listen. If he can manage to accomplish this, will you be mature enough to have an open mind and listen? Or will it be more of the same from the peanut gallery?
nedl said: "Obviously our insults DO harm you."
Insults? Where? I didn't see you insult me...I was suggesting that mobaydave not insult YOU.
nedl said: "Look at the long diatribe you typed out about it."
Give me a break. If you consider 3 minutes worth of reading a "long diatribe," first, you need to look up the definition of "diatribe," (hint: my criticism wasn't a mean spirited attack), and second, you need to get smart. I suppose you consider books long too, since they're not comprised only of one-liners and little wise cracks, eh?
Besides, I type fast. It's no chore to knock out a thousand words (which incidentally, is ALL my last post is comprised of: 1,084 words). And just so you know, this one is 655 words, including your quotes. I hope you didn't break a sweat reading it, I know it must have been hard for you.
