Sorry, Tom. never saw anything about walmart posted. Don't read every post or every reply...but you folks know that. As for spending rebate checks... I have never had a problem/issue with where anyone spends their money. My opinion about walmart is based on other factual negatives; and where I spend MY money is my business; especially when dining out. However, I did read news online that wierdmard was going to cash rebate checks for free. Mine was direct-deposited for free.
I once posted and asked if anyone knew of restaurants here that served local, or at least Iowa beef and pork. Didn't get any info back to speak of. So, it looks like folks don't know or just plain don't care; or are not spending their money in restaurants. But I sure have seen complaints posted here about the food in our restaurants.
I spend where I want; just like anyone; but it won't be at walmart.
Did you folks read that post the other day from the person that said he could or did walk to True Value and that they had everything he needed right there? The point was he was walking and saving gas. I gave them some info on Muscabus routes and prices. It works if ya'll are interested. Might have paid more at True-Value but saved gas and wear and tear on a vehicle, as well as that dang 'ol pollution from vehicles. Nice...but not everyone will go to those extremes. And once the public smoking ban is in place, smokers will be driving everywhere so they can smoke at will in their vehicles on the way.
As for the largest retailer in the world? Looking at Quad Cities gas prices online, it seems dissapointing (once again) that the Walmart/Murphy gas stations and other Sam's Club stations can't hardly do anything more than a couple/few cents off gas prices. Thought they were more powerful than that...guess Walmart/Murphy/Sam's stations are price gougers too.
And so it goes.....
