I don't know much about solar or wind driven cars, but I can tell you hybrid is really not any cheaper on the pocket. What's sad is the fact gas price will never return to the prices of yester-year. Oil companies are not stupid. They know now what we'll pay.
We've shown a continued consumption despite it causing things such as housing foreclosures, repos, divorces, and many other finacial burdens. I believe we'd continue to use gas to the point just short of starvation.
The answer has to lie elsewhere........

I didn't want to release this information yet but feel the time may be right. I have been experimenting with different varieties of beans. Some creative crossbreeding has produced a large and very delicious type of bean. I call these beans 'megatomic' beans because they produce huge continuous amounts of methane like gas for up to an hour after eating.
Tests have already proved that the by product gas will run converted petrol engines. Several test cars are being readied for demonstrations. These cars are 4 passenger sedans. Each seat has a 'blow hole' in the appropiate position. Each 'blow hole' is linked directly to the gas holding chamber.
To use just eat a plate of these beans a half hour before driving, sit over the blow holes, start the engine, drive.
