We expect to raise $50-$100 with those within the next couple weeks. We have to have something to start with so we can print information and stuff about the project - need money to get started, you know what I mean? You could always help by giving $5.... but cash is tight for everyone these days, so I would understand if you don't.

Mr. Kopf,

I guess you didn't read one of my replies to you on another post. I recommended that you should target other ages besides the young folks. As I know older kids (19-26) that  are also gamers. Some even like to play the cards (? I don't know what that is, but it is some kind of game?).

Could you give more of an explantion as to what this place includes?

From an old farts view: Will it have online games, (bare with me here, i'm old...) like xbox live,  will it have them card games, plenty of tables and chairs, pop machines, or fridges to put them in, what is the set up of this place?

Also, if we do want to donate, where the heck do we go to drop it off?

I am all for you starting this, for some place for kids to go, but I also want to know the rules of the place. Basically, I want to know if you are going to be a deck about the rules and is it only a cool place for you and your FRIENDS to hang out at. How welcome are other people that aren't in your circle of friends?

I'm glad you asked, df. Basically I want it to be as open and assesable (and desirable) for everyone. To give you an idea of what kind of attractions we want, here's a list of planned activities/events:

* Card Tournaments (non-gambling, most people play a card game called "Magic").

* Concerts (like high school bands, for example, they need a place to play that will have good supervision)

* Online Games (all varieties)

* PS3, XBox 360, Wii and all the various games for all genres (Action, RPGs, Shooting, Strategy, Sports, etc)

* Dance Dance Revolution & Wii & Guitar Hero will be a large focus to help get young people up and moving

* Art Contest (A ton of young people like to draw things like Anime style art, we hope to give them a venue)

* TV with movies and japanese animation, mostly on a request basis

* Tables to play card games

* Discussion areas, similar to those at bookstores, for readings, poetry, discussions, etc

* Internet access

* Educational Panels - people can opt to teach a panel and get admission discounts

* Dances, all night events, etc.

I'm sure we have more ideas, but I don't have the file right now. Any thoughts on these?

Oh, and cash donations can be made either at muscatineyouth.com/give or in a check to "Muscateen Youth Center" to PO Box 1212. We'll start accepting items (video games, furniture, for example) once we've reached a specific threshold (the committee has not voted on this yet).
