I think it is important to support local businesses and let folks know when you have a good time as well as a bad time. We are pretty good at the bad so here is a good. I went to both the Moose Lodge and the Button Factory this weekend for dinner. Both were excellent in their own ways.

The Moose is very informal and family like. It is not fancy but the food is very good and very reasonably priced. All you can eat catfish or shrimp for $10.00 or so. A really good NY strip or chicken breast are also on the menu.  It is a limited menu but good prices. If you go keep in mind that the waitresses work pretty much for tips and as I understand it, are pretty much volunteers from the Moose. It is open to the public on Friday nights. Soemthing like $15-$20 bucks per preson including drinks.

The Button is a very different kind of place. A true sit down and be served place. The service was great(we had a party of 17 and she kept it all straight!!!) and the food was served properly and very tasty. Much more expensive than the Moose but a great place to eat. If you havent tried it since the new mgt took over, you really should. A big variety of dishes to chose from.  We had a good experience there. Again--pricey but well worth it for the kind of place it is. Very comparable with the chain places in town for price and quality but better atmosphere and service. Something like $25-$35 bucks per person including drinks.

Muscatine does have nice places to go. It aint Chicago or NY but they are nice.

I've never ate at the Button Factory, but your assessment of the Moose was dead on.

Peace

The new Thai restraunt in the Hotel Muscatine is great!  The meals are very reasonable.  The lunch menu is only $6.95.  That includes their soup of the day & the meal.  I ALWAYS leave with a to go box for later!  The most expensive meal on their evening meal is $12.95.  That is their seafood dishes.  The salmon dish is beautifully presented & very delicious.

This restraunt is very unique.  They want to make sure you are happy.  If what you order isn't something you enjoy, you can order something else!  On the menu, there is a "chili" that tells you that dish is a bit spicy.  All you have to do is ask them to make it milder.

I took my 7 & 8 yr. old grandaughters there for lunch last Friday.  We ordered an appetizer of "Crispy Banana Roll",  a crispy roll, stuffed with banana & coconut with a sweet sauce.  They loved it!  We then ordered the "Pattaya Street Noodles" for themto split.  It is a mild dish without any spices & really good.  They used chopsticks & had the best time!  The waiter came out with a complimentary dessert dish for the girls of Thai ice-cream & banana rolls w/ a beautiful presentation! THEY WERE THRILLED, & CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!

I also love the Drunken Noodles, (a bit spicier but I ask them to go light on the spices) & LOVE THE Asparagus Shitake.  The Pineapple Fried Rice is also very tasty.

All dishes are ordered with your choice of chicken, beef, portk, tofu or shrimp.  I'm not a fan of Ginger, so there is one dish I wasn't crazy about...but the service is wonderful.

I agree about the Thai restaurant. It's great. We went there for dinner on Christmas Eve. We were the only customers in the place by the time we finished and they gave us a Christmas gift.
