how is it possible for a sex offender to buy a business and run it, with a skate park and ball park across the street?

 

read in the paper today that Alan Reichert now owns Action Video, couldnt remember how I knew that name, then it hit me, I remember seeing it on the Sex Offenders list a couple years ago. he was on the list for doing whatever to a minor, cant remember for sure if it was male or female, doesnt matter really.  I remember his face now, and I remember the bad vibes I got from him when I saw him at the grocery store, and that was before I knew he was on that list.

 I understand wanting to make a living, but come on. Kids would go in that store all the time, (almost hit some as they crossed the street)  so I guess make sure if your kid is at the Skatepark or Musser Park warn them of the dangers now at the video store across the street.

 also, if you go in there, keep an eye on your children

Interesting that you should mention sex offenders.  One of my co workers had a sex offender move into the neighborhood where her kids go after school.  The property actually joins the school property.  I thought they had to be 1000 ft from any school or registered day care.

Interesting question jbond. I also thought the same thing when the flyers were handed out last night door to door. So I inquired the same question to the Police Department. Come to find out , this guy is grandfathered in because he lived there when he commited the crime , and his victim is over 18 years of age which exempts him from the residency requirements.  Some how that doesn't comfort me knowing there are young children playing in the school yard everday right behind this guy. These creeps shouldn't have the right to be exempt from anything when it comes to protecting young children from this . Who knows what goes on in their sick mind , and who can say he won't commit that crime on a minor.This blows my mind that this law doesn't mean a thing if the person he did it to was over 18.

I'm not trying to defend him. I don't know him or the story, but I do know on this subject there are some screwed up laws. Example: If a man miss reads a woman on his advances and attemps that dreaded first moved it can get ugly in a hurry. Under the law there is little differances between the kinds of sexual assult. I find huge differance in what I stated to a person sexually playing with a 5 year old. The law sees no differance.
