Muscatine

Like most of you, I didn't really "know" Amy Meyer, but in a small town, in many ways we got to know her.  You have to admire anyone who dedicates themselves to educating children.  She was usually always smiling, and always had a kind word for anyone she encountered.  I know too, that after her diagnosis,, she realized even more the importance of some kind of kind word.  

We share a birthday.... it was something I discovered accidentally. I  remember once she told me on OUR birthday, she would be sitting out on her porch,  enjoying a wine cooler, and that I should stop by and have a drink to celebrate our day.  I never did, and I do kind of regret that. 

 My point, and I'm sorry I'm so slow in making it, is that Amy touched a lot of our kids' lives.  We will all remember some teacher in our childhood that touched us, that inspired us in some way. For SO many Muscatine kids...that teacher will be Amy Meyer.

 What a legacy....though she's gone, she's probably watching from Heaven knowing "It Was A Good Thing"

Didn't know her. She sounds like a great person.

That's right, I said it.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to the Meyer family.

 I did not know Amy Meyer, but i did follow her articles in the Journal and I drew strength from her positive attitude. For that I thank her.

She was taken away in the prime of her life and this only makes me want to fight harder.
