Hi Tom - most folks wanted most recent activity at the top, so a topic posted last week with a reply 5 minutes ago would show up before a topic posted yesterday with no replies.  Didn't get around to doing that when we first put up this new discussion area and it generated more complaints - so I know a lot of folks want it to work the way it's working right now.

However, we're working on allowing people to set some preferences for how they see the site - for one thing, times you see ought to be in your local timezone, not ours!  I think that a preference setting for how topics are sorted (most recenly started, or most recent reply) would be fairly easy to do.

If anyone else is interested in this, let us know.  I'll get around to it at some point but I set priorities partially by how many people are asking for something...

I think setting a user preference is a good idea.  Maybe as an added feature, you could add the option for members to sort posts that they have started.
