Not everyday Muscatine gets mentioned on the 10 o'clock news!
How about it MPD, Sherriff Dept, City Council, bring the program back??

The Muscatine city council in their infinite wisdom and thoughtfulness regarding the children of this city, decided to ELIMINATE THE DARE PROGRAM about 5 years ago. Too expensive to keep the officer in the schools they said, need to cut the number of police officers they said, no money they said...let's not divert the 1% sales tax they said, TO HELL WITH THE KIDS THEY SAID. My child went through the DARE program, and I'm not saying they would have ended up dealing with drugs if they hadn't but I'm sure it didn't hurt them any. The Muscatine city council has continuously ignored the needs of this community, and are much willing to avoid raising taxes then they are to try to help our kids. Their record is quite clear when it comes to things such as DARE....to expensive, rehab is cheaper. |
