I've been watching the Weather Channel about how the weather had a significant role in history, especially military actions in WW2. Due to the favorable weather at the Battle of Dunkirk it gave the Brits the ablility to save several hundreds of thousands of troops to continue the fight against Germany. This evacuation was a significant effort to continue the thwart of German forces on the Germans turf. It may have been a very early event to sway the outcome of THE war.

The Battle of the Bulge.........another significant turning point of WW2. And the weather once again played another major factor towards a major victory for the Allies. I have seen videos of this engagement and it was absolutely brutal. Low in ammunition, food, proper clothing and other logistical supplys...........and the FROZEN bodies of both sides was awful. I recently talked to a local veteran who served at this battle and he told me he was one of 9 that survived out of a company of well over 100. He still vividy rembers the detail today.

And the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan............aren't they fortunate?!?!?!? They have warm weather..........................

The weather WILL change for the better.........I will stop at that.

FYI2; you, my husband, son, father & many uncle's would be able to  appreciate your post.  I can't?  They TRULY appreciate & understand what your post is all about & the sacrifices made!

I feel bad because I wish I could appreciate all that you have said.  I'm in the present.  I want sunshine, warmth & spring flowers and the promise that summer is coming.  I want to put my winter coat to bed!   I wanna dig in the dirt!

I want to appreciate our past...just not now?  I'm tired of the cold & the snow!  I'm sorry...

Nothing to be sorry about!! This winter is taking a toll on everything from us to the animals. It will turn around, but not soon forgotten. I want to get back to working outside as well. The house is too confining.
