I see they called a snow emergency. seems to me that most of the main roads have been plowed, grandview ave, mississippi drive, park ave, cedar street, mulberry, they were still some spots on those streets that were a little rough, the bypass, was horrible. I was out for about 2hrs, and did not once see a plow or salt truck. I live on a side road, it yet has to be plowed even once, and checking out some other side roads they look the same as mine.
but boy, that riverfront parking lot sure is getting cleaned up pretty quick.
turning lane onto mulberry, headed south on the bypass was crazy deep, doesnt even look like they plowed that once. they seem to always miss the turning lanes.
ok, think I'm done. maybe
I'm glad it snowed like it used to when I was a kid. now I can go build an igloo and sleep outside tonight.

Snow Removal
I was called out, to go to work yesterday, and had to be there by 10:30am. I shoveled my walk @ 9am (which had been shoveled @ 9:30pm, the previous night). There was at LEAST one and one half foot of NEW stuff on the sidewalk. I live on a snow route, and, it ''looked'' like it hadn't been plowed for several hours, but then, I live on the ONLY snow route in the hundreds of miles of roads, in Muscatine. I took the bypass, due to less hills, the plows were on it as I drove, and, considering the amount of snow that we had (the MOST in one day, since 1978-worked that dau.), the bypas wasn't all that bad! I drive a little import and had more trouble getting out of my driveway, than driving on the City streets/bypass. Personally, I think that the City does a marvelous job on the streets. Go live in Davenport sometime! They're all running out of salt....NOT US! GREAT JOB, PUBLIC WORKS!

snow plows
Guess we are all spoiled by the great response we get here in Muscatine in regards to snow removal. You know the two or three inch snows.
Well I for one think they have done and continue to do a great job with what they are dealing with.
10 inches of slush and snow!!!!!!!!!!!
Where do we put it? Against the curb, oops that puts it into a driveway and ''someone'' WILL complain about that.
Too costly to scoop up and haul away. Where you going to dump it any way?
Salt it till it melts? That's a lot of salt$$$$.
Again I say Thank-you to the city crews for doing as fine of a job as they have done with all that we got.
My biggest complaint is the private plow jockies that do a drive and leave the huge piles along the curb, at the side of the road. I sure hope I or no on else ever makes contact with those dry docked ice berges. The plow jockies for the most part leave it for someone else to clean up and move (city crews)
Any way sit back enjoy the season(winter) and think Spring is only six weeks away as the groudhog says.
Everyone have a safe and enjoyable day.

I had a ground up, ain't even try the spelling for the first name, groundhog Phil for lunch. If I were ''Phil'', when they pulled me out my nice warm haven I would crap on them and chew up them goofy hats.
