Janitor Is Right

''Responsible'' drivers had no problems. My bus route runs north of town and, while the roads were sloppy, they certainly weren't unsafe. Safety is ALWAYS the prime concern!

Call the District

if you don't agree with the decision and let Dr. Williams know. Don't be rude, ask direct questions, expect direct answers, and be willing to listen and think about the answers you get to see if there is something you never thought about before. Every district has it's policies for making the decision to call off or delay school. Even if you don't agree with it! There are many factors that go into making a decision to call off or delay school.

It is every parents perogitive to keep their children home with them if they feel it is too unsafe to go to school.

I know they have make up days for the ITBS tests because I saw it in my children's school news letter. I doubt that it was the only deciding factor to have school.

I know that statisticly, school buses are the safest mode of transportation out there. Most of the districts' drivers have years of experience in driving in less than perfect conditions. In a case like this morning, it was probably better to have snow on the roads than to have them plowed only to become icy when the rain started. I myself would rather drive on 4'' of snow than 1/16 '' of ice any day. I'm sure it's the same for a bus driver.

(Everyone is impressed by the lion tamer in a cage full of lions, everyone except a school bus driver.)
