Hi mil...

You said you were new here. You probably don't know the past about the intersection you are talking about.
There have been some VERY HORRIFIC accidents @ that intersection costing the city because of lawsuits & heartbreak to many in our town.
Some ''bandaids'' were applied. FYI2 was right to direct you to the site stated. You can get your answers there.
I'm glad you posted. I didn't know work was being done in that area. It is time & it needs to be done for your safety & for the rest of us. Work on our roads is always a pain. If it's done to make all our lives safer, a few months should be worth it? (We wanna keep you around a while, MIL!). I love reading your posts. :-)

Think I would have to agree with byobp.  It IS a nightmare and has been since day one.

As far as keeping traffic open, with what they are doing, that is impossible. Hershey Ave. to my understanding is going to go under the bypass, how could you possibly keep the traffic open.

If they would have left Hershey at the level it was origanally, and built an overpass origanally it would have cost several million less, and would have solved the problem right from the start. So as far as the tax money wasted, I guess I could agree with that, although it does need to be done.

And NO, the traffic light did not stop the safety issue. Traffic lights, hell any kind of an intersection there is going to be a safety issue. There should be on and off ramps just like an interstate. Heavy trucks coming down that hill at 55 (I think we all know most are travelling faster) can't stop on a dime, therefore any kind of an intersection there is going to be a safety issue.

By the way, I did lose a close friend at that intersection. So yep I'm all for it.

I am all for this project.  I honestly wish that they would make it in to a true bypass and do all the intersections this way.  I am glad that I live on the town side becaue I would hate to live on the other side with the intersections the way they are.  I have two young children that I would never want to send out to cross that when they were old enough to drive.  There have been many accidents at the uncontrolled intersections and these bridges/overpasses will cut down on this problem.
