I find myself on the side of bigbrother on this one. I don't know what the supervisors, sheriff, county attorney, auditor, or treasurer earn in the way of salaries but if you want to retain good people the salary must be commensurate to other like salaries within the State. These elected officials are certainly not getting rich by serving their community in these positions.
All this whining, complaining, and yes, bitching, about the city and county government is starting to become like cheap bubblegum. It's beginning to lose it's flavor. Look, I don't want my taxes raised but I don't want cuts being made to essential services. Each of the positions you complain about provide an essential service to our community and to the county.
You seem to be a somewhat intelligent chap rhirdt. Why don't you start campaigning now for one of these positions, including the City Council, so you can show all of us how government can and should work. May be you could take a decrease in your salary in one of these positions and save the taxpayers a little something in return. Hold a town hall meeting and I'll be sure to attend and hear you out.
