Murphy's Landing HOA

Yards, Boats, Above Ground Pools

Posted in: Murphys Landing
What does the HOA of Murphys Landing plan to do regarding the violations of many homeowners. We and others moved in to this area to have one of the best neighborhoods in Perry township. We can't let people violate the ordinance that have been established. Let's stop it now.

Zoning Ordinance Enforcement

Dear Anonymous,
You may contact your local zoning inspector with the Department of Metropolitan Development, Code Compliance Division. The City of Indianapolis can enforce the commitments of a neighborhood such as Murphy's Landing, as it is zoned D-P (Planned Unit Development) I agree that the reason I moved into this neighborhood was it had covenants which did not permit above-ground pools, mini-barns, outside boat/camper storage etc. Our property taxes have increased and we want to keep this neighborhood the best it can be. I might suggest that we develop an ''enforcement team'' of the neighborhood which can educate and inform the residents of the rules and regulations. They should be made aware of the laws to stop the violations. If nothing is resolved, you will have to approach your Perry Township zoning inspector, Nikki Carlisle at 327-8700.
Above-ground Pools

If this above-ground pool is allowed to remain, without first obtaining approval from the architectural board, then this will allow many other violations to follow suit. Why bother having covenants and/or commitments if no one enforces them? People you need to read the covenants of this neighborhood! You were given a copy when you purchased your home or property at closing! Boats, trailers of any kind, motorcycles, mini-bikes, mopeds, campers are NOT PERMITTED to be parked or stored anywhere on any TRACT within this neighborhood. Yet I see motorcycles parked in driveways everyday. (Plus they speed along the streets very loudly and one-wheel it! Read (j) Page 32 of the Covenants and Restrictions for reference. Also no repair work shall be done. These covenants are enforceable by any property Owner (Private Right of Action) and the Corporation.
Great Idea

Lori-

That sounds like a very smart way to approach the problems in MLHOA. I wish we woould have someone enforce the rules and inform the new home owners of the rules...great idea
