Mission and Purpose-Region VI

Mission

The mission of the Region VI Clients Council is to insure that the civil legal services offered by the Legal Services Corporation and it's Legal Services Programs are;
1.Revelant
2.Appropriate
3. Meets the needs of the low income community
To be a source of information, both gathering and sharing; to provide educational and board trainig opportunities to the client board members of the Legal Services Programs in Region VI and to inform the low income community of their rights and responsibilities with respect to the government benefits that they receive





Purpose

1. To bring groups and individuals to gether to act in a unified voice for disadvantaged people and to foster client-community empowerment to perform activities that benefit the low-income members of Region VI.
2. To provide input, directives and insight into the Legal Services Programs priority setting initiative and to help develop an effective delivery system once the priorities are established.
3. To become an ongoing independant advocacy organization empowered with the capability and the capacity of addressing specific issues faced by the low income community.
4. To help facilitate the education of client board members to have a better understanding of their responsibilities and roles as Board of Directos members of the Legal Services Programs.
5. To help develop leadership skills for client participants
6. To work for legislative change at all levels

Goals and Objectives-2006-2010

1. To develop short and long term strategic goals and objectives that will address the issues facing the client community and to formulate initiatives to accomlpish and to eliminate barriers they face.
2. To develop fund raising and project development strategies and initiatives to support the programs and projects of Region VI. A focused and concentrated grant research and grant writing initiatives that will develop funding streams that lead toward self-sufficiency
3. To raise public awareness concerning the issues of our client community.
4. To inform and to educate our publicly elected officials on the issues that face our client community.
5. To develop partnerships with Corporate America, Faith-Based Organizations, Private Sector Organizations and Institutions, Philantrophy Organizations and Federal, State and Local Governments in order to bring all "stake holders" together to address client issues.
