What about our good ideas?

Posted in: St Andrews
This discussion string is to develop a consensus about what to do when a good idea pops up in our discussions.

I think the originator of an idea should take the lead for implementing it. My initial thought is that we need communication between the originator and people who are willing to help. So the originator should offer an email with the idea.

Next, I think they should invite responsible government officials to respond to the idea on our webpage so every interested person can keep up.

If the invitation is ignored, maybe a personal meeting and a report on this page by the orginator may suffice. That's my two cents.

Our Buzz Makes Things Happen

We have a lot of potential political power (votes, tax base, and wealth for political contributions) in the St. Andrews area. How can we use it? That's where the buzz in this forum is useful.

If you support action on a matter, raise your concern in this forum or reply to a person's post, sign a petition, and maybe fax or email the representative. It may be enough that you let the representative know you support the proposal, but you should certainly say more if it will add to the full weighing of the proposal.

But how much buzz is enough? Rarely is one voice enough. However, when it is evident that we speak for the community there should be a reactive change from the elected representative.
