Project updates

Posted in: St Andrews
There are several ongoing projects that the St Andrews area will be affected by. These are:1. Hwy 57 extention south to Belle Fountain Rd. This project is underway. Funding is in place. The project design is underway, and we expect to bid the project in late summer. 2: Flooding on Tantallon. This is a bad situation we are working very had to solve. Several improvements have been made such as the concret drain ditches that help water flow, opening up of the ditches along main street to get the water away faster, recently completed engineering that shows enlarged piping needed and opening up of drainage areas upstream of St. Andrews. I am also working with local homeowners to get easements for for catchbasins and drainlines. My goal is for water never get into another home. This will take time, but it will be accomplished. 3:A park site for the area. I am in discussions on two possible sites. Both sites are between St Andrews, and Gulfpark Estates/Rosewood. As this becomes more clear, I will be asking for your help in deciding what this park should be.4:Sewer in the Ocean Beach area. This is a very difficult issue. We have in hand the CIAP funding for the first phase of the project which is the area behind the Country Store. Corp of Engineering funding is slow incoming, and we have no exact date of committment, but hopes and efforts are being made to secure the funding by the time the first phase is completed. This will be approximately one year. We are working with our congressional delegation, DEQ, and the corps to make this happen.5: Media Com problems:
I have asked, with board support, to have our Attorney write Media Com a very stronly worded letter. This stated that we fully expect service to your area to improve. If this does not happen the county will be forced to take further legal actions. If you have media com problems, please contact my office with specifics so that we can document the poor service. This is important to document the lack of service.6: SBA low interset lows available for flood damage. The SBA will open an office on Thursday from 9AM untii 6PM and on Saturday from 8AM untill noon. If you need information contact my office. If I can provide additional information or assist you with a personal problem do not hesitate to call me. 769-3378
