New to Middletown Village

Posted in: Middletown Village
Hello,

My wife and I just moved into our new house last week. We relocated from Wisconsin and chose this area based on the reputation of the school district and because Middletown seems to be a nice community. After reading some of the posts I am a bit concerned that we made the wrong choice. Was anything resolved at the Jan. 10th meeting? Could someone please help put my mind at ease?

Thanks,

Welcome Marty! You didn't make the wrong decision. My wife and I have lived here for a year and a half now and we really enjoy this community. I think that what we're seeing now is people who bought here early (and inexpensively), are now starting to sell and cash out on their investment. We've seen our property value increase by nearly $40k in 18 months, so I can only imagine what the origional people have made.
To ease your mind, I would much rather live in Middletown Village than in a grossly overpriced home on the east side of town. Our side of town is about to explode with development starting with the Westtown project to the south of Bunker Hill Road. We will never have development to our immediate west due to the US301 bypass corridor, and there is a land development plan in the process for a new school at the southern corner of Choptank and Bunker Hill Roads.
You've moved into a great community in a growing part of Delaware. Welcome to our great State and community!

Welcome to Middletown Village

As President of the Civic Association, I want to welcome you to our community. As John said in his reply, you did not make a mistake in buying a home in Middletown Village. There are many fine people in Middletown Village and the property values have continued to increase greatly. As with most areas, we have our share of bad residents. However, I know for a fact that the other developments in Middletown and for that matter in the state also have it's share of ''bad apples''. Haveing been born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and as a father of a 2 year old, I can tell you that Middletown (and Middletown Village) is a great place to raise a family. The more involved residents we have, the better our community will be. If you want to get involved within our community, I would like to invite you to our next monthly meeting on Feb 7th at 7:00PM. Our meetings are held at the New Castle County Police HQ on Rt. 71 (Broad Street) across from the Sears and Grotto Pizza shopping center.

Please feel free to contact me. My e-mail is mvillagepresident@yahoo.com

I look forward to meeting you on February 7th.

Sincerely,
Eric Smolin - President
Middletown Village Civic Association
