Is....

Nothing brings neighbors together like a friendly contest!

Perhaps you feel you have a festive holiday display or an extraordinary yard! This is the time to show them off! This section will inform you of current neighborhood contests that are being held as well as the lucky winners . Please check back often, so that you may participate in the neighborhood contests.

Yard of the Month Guidelines and Criterias

The purpose of the YOM is to maintain and improve the appearance of our community by promoting well-kept yards. One winner each month will receive a $20 award certificate to Home depot or similar, and will proudly display a "Yard of the Month" sign in their yard for a month. A picture of the winning yard will also be posted on the HOA website and maybe announced in the Gazette. Every effort will be made to rotate the winners among the entire association. Each homeowner/renter is invited to participate.

Guidelines:

1. Criteria:

A. Yard Maintenance

* Healthy lawn, neatly mowed and edged

* Pruned and trimmed shrubs and trees

* Healthy plants

* Minimum weeds in flower beds

* Yard free of debris and clutter

B. Design and Landscaping

* Use of color and/or texture

* Creative, unique, curb appeal

* Overall aesthetic appeal, an inspiration to others in the neighborhood

* Balance appropriate to house and lot size

2. Winner must be in good standing with the HOA. This will be verified thru the HOA Board.
* Dues paid in full
* In compliance with the CC&R's


3. One home will be selected each month(May-Sep.) And one home will be selected during the months of Oct. and Dec. for a special holiday award(see criteria for holiday awards).

4. Each yard/home will be limited to winning the award only once in any calendar year.

5. Only the front/side yards as viewed from the street will be judged. Backyards will not be considered.

6. All plantings must be living, no plastic, silk or artificial plants.

7.Criteria for Holiday yards(Oct. and Dec.) will include the above criteria’s and will also be judged for originality, creativity and neatness. Something that says it’s the holidays!


8 Current board members and Beautification Committee volunteers are not eligible.

9. Volunteers of the Beautification Committee as well as the winner for the previous month will judge, determine, and select the Yard of the Month by the 30th of the month prior to the award being given. The award given in May will only be selected by the Beautification Committee to start the process. Anyone can nominate a yard by contacting the committee at parkplacehoa@hotmail.com

Name of nominated as well as address and reason why must be given when nominating.

10. Yard of the Month signs will be placed in the winning yards on the first day of the month, to remain the entire month this will be done by the committee.

11. Judges decisions are final.

12. Homeowners and Renters alike are eligible.

13. Committee may include a “theme” to go along with the selected YOM(eg: most colorful, best improved, etc).
