Even if your car is not in your driveway there are ways to make robbers think someone might be at home. Leave lamps and lights on even during the day when you are gone. If you cant afford an alarm system ask your neighbor that has one for an extra sign or some stickers for your place. Robbers wont know the difference. You can also get a cheap AM radio and leave it turned up loud to ''talk radio'' when you are gone.
Anything you can do to make your house look like someone might be home is a good idea.

I agree those are good ideas. Leaving a radio on couldnt hurt. I still think its a better idea to get to know your neighbors and trade numbers and be willing to call if you see anything out of the ordinary. I would rather my neighbors call me if they see a car in my driveway they dont recognize than to let them ignore it and have my house be robbed in broad daylight.
