Letter from the President
I just wanted to write a note to introduce myself to you as the newly elected President for McDaniel Civic Association.
I have been a resident of McDaniel Crest for 10 years now and have truly enjoyed living in this neighborhood. I am a divorced mother of 3, and work for Nemours (a.k.a. AI DuPont Hosp for Children). Even though I am quite busy with my home life, I have taken on this challenge as President because our civic association has kind of slipped into hiding these past two years and I feel that we need more social events (especially for the kids)!
Our neighborhood has been termed ?“one of the most desirable in North Wilmington?” by the real estate industry. Therefore I feel it is our duty as residents to keep our properties and surrounding parks in tip-top shape, continue to hold community events, and also keep in touch with our neighbors and friends to help each other when needed.
I will try to the best of my ability to address issues brought to my attention in meetings and also keep updated info on our new web site. I also hope to meet many more of my surrounding neighbors and help out in any way I can. Please support me in this challenge to get our civic association back on track!

Ordinance Issues
At our Spring MCA meeting, several concerns were raised in reference to Land Use and Code Enforcement. Some homes and/or yards in our neighborhood are not being kept up properly or have illegal storing / parking of unregistered vehicles on property or streets.
MCA needs to address these issues and inform residents of the New Castle County codes. Therefore, attached please find a pamphlet printed by New Castle County on the TOP 10 most common violations in neighborhood yard standards. PLEASE read through this and CHECK YOUR YARD!!!! Remember, however, that we don?’t want to create enemies of our neighbors but instead we are just trying to keep up the status of being a highly desirable neighborhood to live in.
We appreciate your efforts in doing your part in maintaining our community?’s health, welfare and safety standards for all residents.

Check it Out?…
MCA?’s new web site
www.neighborhoodlink.com
Just type in the site, enter zip code, click on McDaniel Civic Assoc. and your in. We welcome your input!

Volunteers Needed!

Please help out in anyway you can with either some of the social events, handing out newsletters, web site maintenance, or petitioning for funds for the parks and roadways. We need your help!

ARE YOU INTERESTED?
Recently, there has been an interest in possibly forming a NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH.
We are looking for anyone who might be interested in volunteering for such a committee. If we have enough people interested, New Castle county Police will provide the course / training needed to start.
Please contact RJ Miles at 479-9636 for more info.

PARKS AND RECREATION
You may have noticed some recent projects being done over the spring by New Castle County Division of Park Maintenance. We are apparently first on the list for maintenance of the Shellpot basketball courts and also disposal of the old concrete that is lying around. Also, recent changes have been made in regards to trash in the areas. Both Shellpot and Goodley are ?“carry in, carry out?” when it comes to trash. The trash bins have been taken away. So PLEASE do your part in keeping your trash with you until you can find a proper place to dispose of it. This is our neighborhood?…. LET?’S KEEP IT CLEAN!
