Hello to all, I would like to introduce myself, my name is Steve Gill and I am running as a write in candidate for Mayor of the city of Bellemeade.  My wife and I moved into the City of Bellemeade in January of 2008.  We purchased the house at 105 N. Chadwick Rd from the Barker's.  We welcomed our daughterKinlee into our lives on October 23, 2009.  I have been married to my wife, Kim Gill for 5 years.  We are originally from Memphis, Tn, where we met in high school and have been togetherever since.  If you  are wondering why I am running as a write in candidate, I was called to active duty with the Air National Guard back on April 1st of this year.  I served four months transferring equipment for our soldiers from Iraq to Afghanistan and resupplying our troops in other remote areas in the middle east.  I was released from active duty on August 1st and the deadline had ended, so my only option was a write in candidate.

A little background on myself, I currently work at UPS as an aircraft maintenance supervisor.  I have been employed there for almost 5 years and work weekends.  I have a staff that consists of twelve union mechanics and one maintenance utility. I am a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, I am currently in the Tennessee Air National Guard and have been serving our country for the past 11 years.  I have done two tours of duty overseas, one in 2002 for the Enduring Freedom Campaign and one in 2010 for the Afghan Surge Campaign.  Both times I served as a flying crew chief on C-141 and C-5 aircraft.  I attended Middle Tennessee State University where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management and received my airframe and powerplant license.  My hobbies include golf, hunting, fishing, atv's, and maintaining vehicles.

Some of my objectives as Mayor will include:

Making the neighborhood family and kid friendly with the increasing number of families and children living here.

Listening to the changing needs of families / residents and to see what we can do to meet their needs.

Creating a sense of belonging and community so we can help each other and look out for each other's needs.

Making the neighborhood safe for all residents.

Keeping the beauty of our tree's in the neighborhood.

Continuing to fight to keep the U of L Shelby campus property from becoming strip malls, hotels, businesses, etc.

Striving to keep taxes low for our city.

I invite all of the neighbors and families in the City of Bellemeade to join my family and I at the Dunn's residence, 107 Dorchester Rd, on Thursday night October 28th between 5:30PM & 8:30PM for a meet and greet with desserts and coffee.  I will be more than happy to introduce myself and answer any questions you might have.

We'll see you at the Dunn's this Thursday early evening.
