Has anyone seen the signs on 896? The farm has been sold. Houses will be built on both sides of 896.I wonder what will happen to mansion farm drive now?

I haven't seen the signs, but it was certainly inevitable that the property would eventually be sold to development interests. Years ago, at my suggestion, Robert Peoples Sr. tried, unsuccessfully, to purchase that property for the main purpose of extending Mansion Farm Drive to Rt #896. That would have resulted in a full intersection for westerly access to our community. Consequently, Mansion Farm Drive was stubbed at that property line to facillitate an eventual future continuation.

New Castle County and Deldot planners have long advocated interconnection of major communities. A direct access to Rt #896 would certainly be beneficial to many of our residents. Our Board of Directors should appoint a member to stay informed on planning considerations for this property. As a rezoning is likely, a good place to start would the County Land Use Department's Rezoning coordinator.

A road connecting 896 to and thru Mansion Farm would SUCK!!! My guess is that road would connect to whatever the name of the road is the runs between Phase 1 and the townhouses....which is right behind my house.  I, for one, don't want the traffic or trash in my yard that a thoroughfare would certainly generate.

I too would not like for this to happen, but there does need to be a separate enterence.  If it does happen, where can we talk about speed bumps or aditional stop signs on the road?
