Battery Back-up for Garage Door Opener

As a follow up to Andy's question, the outside of the opener housing does say "Battery Backup".  And, following up on Gino's comment - her unit is also one of the more senior ones in the neighborhood, so it makes sense that her battery went out.  It does suggest that if your unit is 7 or 8 years old, you might well need a new battery before long.  Dave

Guess I shouldn't have started this - as I recall in the early months it was discovered that there was no battery in one of the unit's opener. Imagine that!

 

Chris and Joel scurried and I think they got batteries in all units, but who knows for sure.  Suspect you can check by pulling the plug from the ceiling outlet and then pushing the button for the garage door.  If it opens or closes, your good. If not, maybe your battery is low or maybe there isn't even a battery.
