Eric Davis came to a homeowners meeting to discuss schools in our area.  Has a committee been formed to look into the issue and work with him on changing our schools?  We will continue to lose families as their children become school age as long as we continue to ignore this issue.

I believe that is something that our current president Valerie Delby and another resident plan to focus on next year.  This other person I believe is running to be on our board.    The only school that people have ever focused on various times for more than a decade was the high school assignment.

Trying for Myers Park or South Meck.  Every effort so far as failed to result in reassignment.   I will make sure Valerie is aware of this post and maybe she can provide some more info on what she is doing.    The last effort was done by a former director of Madison Park HOA Jarrett Hunt.  He spent a couple of years trying to push for change back in 2011 / 2012. That was the main reason he served on our board to spearhead that movement.  That said many others tried and failed prior to his efforts.  He got further than most.    My opinion is the only way to ever make sure this one happens is get behind some current school board members, or future candidates that support the desired changes, and either support them or help get them elected to the board.    I do know some of the processes for making such request have changed in the last couple of years.   The school board the last year that Jarrett Hunt worked on this issue had our request issue on their agenda, but never made the changes.   Pinewood though is not a bad school, and the HOA itself is supporting it as much as possible.  Increased efforts such as helping them with grants, freedom school,   Madison Central Park grant, volunteers, and partnering with them on this Saturday's fall festival.   They are a title one school, but that really means they get more resources and attention than non title one schools.    We have in the pipe line an 8K credit from a grant retreat that was pushed back to Feb. 2015 for start season for more prep time.   It was to have begun this fall.  That is going to club programs and marketing of Pinewood.
