I saw the post on the article about neighborhood schools. I went to a recent task force and voiced my opinion. Is there any plan for Madison park families to talk to these task force members? If not. I think we should otherwise our neighborhood will continue to suffer from "toddler flake" as my realtor calls it. ( families with toddlers and school age children leaving for better schools
I believe we as a neighborhood should talk to these task force members

Madison Park parent / resident Jarrett Hunt spent 2 years talking and working with CMS on schools. Mainly the high school assignment. CMS even brought it up to the school board, but nothing ever happened.
Pinewood has 94 students from the neighborhood attending now.
I think all the families with school age children regardless of their ages should be doing exactly what you suggest.
If you can share times and post info on your efforts, and when others might do the same that would be great.
School assignment is something that effects us all. Even us without children in causing a lower property value.
I think next year the options to opt out of neighborhood schools are going to tighten if you attend CMS public schools.
Anyway anything you can share is helpful. If you want to work on it in a larger way and provide updates at our monthly meetings you are welcome.
I also suggest people get involved with school board members running for school board positions and find out which ones are willing to help and get behind them. We had one 2 years ago that did more even after he was not elected than anyone had ever done before as he continued to try and make changes for us. Keith Hurley.

The importance of good schools for our children is obvious and continued pressure should be put on CMS. The benefits of pride and a sense of ownership in our schools are significant.
However, mentioning the importance of neighborhood schools and property value in the same breath is misguided in my opinion. CMS has large issues to deal with and I cannot imagine that improving property values are among the most salient. If increased property values become an ancillary benefit of the retention and attraction of families with older children in Madison Park then great, but it's not the motivation.

I agree, just saying we all benefit from a better choice of schools. Even those without children of school age. CMS for sure would not care about our property values.
