East Woodlawn Repaving Soon

Posted in: Madison Park

Marty,

I have some updates on Woodlawn based on a meeting with NCDOT this morning:

  1. The resurfacing contract runs from March 15th to August 1st.  The contractor is starting in Davidson and working his way south and west, so Woodlawn will probably one of the last roads he gets to.  The contractor did not give a date for when he’d get to Woodlawn, but my guess is that it would be some time in May or June, weather permitting.

  1. NCDOT is requiring that any work done on Monday-Friday be done at night, 8 PM – 6 AM.  The contractor will be milling the entire road (taking off the top 1½” of pavement) before applying new pavement.

  1. There will be 2 contracts: one from South Blvd. to Park Road and then one from Park Rd. to Selwyn/Runnymede.  The South-to-Park part is part of the larger Meck County resurfacing contract (the one that the contractor will be starting in Davidson for).  The Park-to-Selwyn part will be a separate contract just for that work.

  1. No construction activity will occur around holidays (Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th).

It looks like the repaving is going to start soon. They have put road work  signs on Drexmore and Longwood. They are HUGE!!They look like they should be put on I-77 or 485,not a residential street.Anyhow,I hope they get the work done soon.

Thanks for the update.  Hopefully the work will move fairly quickly.   Looks like some  paving work taking place in the last block of  Tyvola from about the school to up near the Shopping center just prior to South Blvd.   They milled the top layer off this week.  Pretty sure that section is City controlled on Tyvola.

It will be good to get both roads completed prior to the new Identification signs being installed.  I am sure the process will kick up a bit of dust/dirt.

Do you know if the sidewalks will still be open on Woodlawn during the paving process?
