Guiry's Moves into the Neighborhood
By Shelley O'Neill, LDDI Membership Director

If you've recently ventured east of 20th Street on Market,
you may have noticed the beginnings of urban renewal in this
once-abandoned warehouse district. Guiry's, Inc., has
recently renovated the old Kemenski Barrel and Drum Company
building.

Now celebrating 100 years in business, this paint and
wallpaper company has come a long way since its founding in
1899 by Joseph P. Guiry and original location in the Ernst
and Cranmer building at 17th and Curtis.

After years of prosperity, two relocations and another
generation of managers, the president is now Richard "Dick"
Guiry who runs Guiry's with his two sons, Patrick and Sean.
The three recently moved back to downtown and have just
completed the restoration of the 25,000 square-foot building
located at 2245 Market.

Some of the renovations include power-washing the original
brick, adding new windows, and staining and applying epoxy
to the floors.

One of the most exciting features of the new facility is the
2500-square-foot art gallery, which houses works from a
variety of local artists.

The new Guiry's promises to bring other pioneers. If you're
one of these pioneers-or a business who's recently moved to
LoDo-call me at 303-628-5482 to discuss how LDDI can assist
you.
