That was something else.    Tyvola and all side streets were a mess.   Even though some media had encourage spectators to walk behind them the police insisted people walk on the small crooked back of curb sidewalks on Tyvola.   Thousands managed to make it on foot to the Queens Sports Complex.   The monks are spending the night at the Marion Diehl.     Tyvola medians were doubled parked with cars.  The entire sidewalk from the Queens Sports Complex to the Marion Diehl entrance on Tyvola nearest Farmbrook was used for parking.   You could not walk on that sidewalk.   

Anyway exciting and for sure the most people I have ever seen in this area on foot and parking. 

There are several activities planned around Charlotte with the Monks on the 15th.

   Walking Buddhist Monks Charlotte NC

   The Buddhist monks, part of the Walk for Peace movement, are expected to 
3. arrive in Charlotte, North Carolina, on January 15, 2026. They will have
4.  made their way from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., covering a
5.  distance of approximately 2,300 miles. The monks will spend the night
6.  at the Marion Diehl Recreation Center in Charlotte, offering visiting hours 
7. from 6 to 9 p.m. During this time, visitors are encouraged to observe quietly
8.  and respectfully, with the monks suggesting a simple greeting by placing
9.  palms together and bowing. It is advised to avoid touching, harassing, shouting, 
10. or intrusive recording, and to join the monks by walking behind them. Pets
11.  are not allowed, and visitors should follow all law enforcement directions. 
12. The monks will also be passing through the region,
13.  so expect slowdowns and closures along Highway 51. 
14. For those interested in joining the journey, the monks will be
15.  speaking at several major events in Charlotte starting on January 15.
