The National Crime Prevention Council designated October as Crime Prevention Month. Every year since then, government agencies, civic groups, schools, businesses, and youth organizations have reached out to educate the public, showcase their accomplishments, and explore new partnerships during this special month. In essence, October has become the official month for recognizing and celebrating the practice of crime prevention, while promoting awareness of important issues such as victimization, volunteerism, and creating safer, more caring communities.

Please join us for an informative evening and learn how your neighborhood can work together with law enforcement to prevent and reduce crime. Our monthly meetings are hosted by the Long Beach Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit. For more information, call the Community Relations Division at (562) 570-7215 or PSS Nicole Avalos at (562) 570-7229 nicole_avalos@longbeach.gov

It's nice to know that there is a law enforcement office that wants civilians to help - the police captain for Mid-City (San Diego) does not like it, nor does the mid city prosicutor...it uses too many city and goverment resources to actually ask the police and the city to report the crime to!
