Longs Creek Homeowner Association

Longscreek Subdivision going to trash!

Posted in: Longs Creek Homeowner

I moved here almost 5 years ago. I have pictrues of my appraisal and surrounding houses and this subdivision did not look like this then. Why do I pay homeowners association fees? Please tell me, I have left messages with the association and I have not gotten a returned phone call. The approved budget for 2009 has fees for telephone, so I do pay for that but no returned call.

My complaint is that right when you turn on my street you are looking directly to a house that has NO front fence and NO back fence and you can see directly to the greenbelt. How come the association has not addressed this issue?? My neighbors can get a letter for not picking up their recycle bin but on the same street there is NOT A FENCE!! This neighborhood is going to trash and that is the very reason I want to move, but how can I sell my house? Who would want to buy a house in such a trash neighborhood? IS ANYONE GOING TO DO ANYTHING? If you cannot afford upkeep on a house move to an apartment but do not make my investment go down.

I agree some houses in this neighborhood are well maintained..but other houses..wow..they need new paint..new garage door..landscaping..new blinds inside the windows.  What I dislike about this neighborhood is that many people park on the street..which i think looks very tacky..

Hello,

Let me ask you a question.  Does the city of San Antonio have the right to ORDER you to fix your fence...paint your house, replace the blinds in YOUR home?  I know they don't and so do you and you and I wouldn't want to have them have that kind of authority!     That being said....why do you think the HOA has that right?  The powers of the HOA are limited to what the homeowners agree to.    Why don't we have a system in our BY LAWS to fine a neighbor for not fixing their fence?  Or a fine for leaving your CITY owned trash bins on the street of in from of your residence every day of the week?

Becasue the homeowners have not given the Board the authority to do just that!

The board can send a letter, then send a second letter....if for example a homeowner has their boat parked in front of their residence, in the drive way....they get the first and second letter....they move the boat to their storage and next week bring it back....the process starts all over!   His happens a LOT!  Playing games, pushing the limits!  IF it gets to the point where the HOA attorney sends a letter....it now COST the HOA to get a homeowers attention....and again...they remove the boat and next week it is back...starts all over.   ADDITIONALLY, having your boat in driveway of a residence in San Antonio is a violation of the cities CODES.  Any residence can call 311 to make a complaint!

We have homeownes who are parking their boats in theie back yards!   Look along KNOLLCREEK and look for the double gates.....those aren't for their kids to exit out to go to school!

NOTICE that homeowners have been fixing their fences along KNOLLCREEK.  Most of those fences where the orginial fences when the homes where built!   The BOARD wnt to STAIN the fences to make it look better!   Before wasting any funds on that project....we notifed the respective homeowners that they needed to repair/replace the old rotted boards/feences!   If is part of the upkeep of your property and our association!

IT GOT their attention and MOST have complied!   SOME resist complainting that they have TOO MUCH FENCE to replace because they have a LARGE back yard!   In my mind.....TOUGH!   You knew you owned the fence....and you knew you have to maintain it also!

I would like for you to EMAIL board@longscreek.com anytime you have questions or complaints or just want to say HI Neighbor.....I live here...have to almost 15 years...I have kids that go to Longscreek and Harris and an older son who graduated from Madison.    I guarantee that you will get an answer to your questions!

As far as the neighbor with the back fence down....it has been replaced!  Correct?

Let me know if there is a different residence that I don't know about.

Sir,

If you will look at the link from the gentleman post before yours you will see my reply/

AS far as the vehicles pared on the street.....the City of San Antonio allows for vehicles to be parked in front of a residence as long as the vehicle is parked WITH the flow of traffic!

MOST homes in Longscreek have 2 car garages and parking for at LEAST 2 cars in the driveway!   The exception to that RULE is the area with the ZERO PROPERTY LINE.  They have a one car garage and a one cae driveway!   I am one of those homeowners!  I own 3 vehicles!

The board is prepared to approve homeowners in the ZERO PROPERTY LINE area to expand their driveways to allow for parking of 2 vehicles off the street.   A change will have to be made in the ACC directives....That is ONE of the reasons I got on the board....to INSURE that MY NEIGHBORS have a voice in their concerns!

Residents in the other areas...have 4 or 5 vehicles....as the family matures...kids get cars and they can't or won't park 4 vehicles in their driveways!   THE HOA cannot MAKE them park in their driveways....the city cannot make them park in their driveways,,,unless the city makes the area in front of our residents a NO PARKING zone!  That won't happen!    I don't want that and neither do you!

Kind and courteous neighbor can work out a problem....there are some who just COMPLAIN and COMPLAIN....but, don't want to get involved!  Drop me a line at board@longscreek.com and lets work on it!  I need your help to make our community a better place.
