I just got done talking to a door-to-door salesman from APX alarm systems. I am not saying the sales pitch is a scam or fraud but after declining to upgrade my current system, I did some research online and they have a pretty shady reputation out there. The sales pitch is high pressure, and some reports online say they will sign you into a 5 year contract. When he comes to your home, he may ask you a lot of information about your current alarm system. Be careful about what information you are giving out.
I asked for information to verify the company and sales pitch and he gave me a website and some 1-800 numbers. When i went onto the website to look up his representative number, no photo appeared, just his name. Supposedly, they travel around the country targeting existing alarm system clients and they are the subject of more than a few BBB claims.
Just be aware when you are signing any contracts or allowing anyone into your home.
