“Lyndale Blooms with Youth” Honoring Mr. Christianson and
Mr. Trinity, Saturday May 5th 10 am-Noon

The Lind-Bohanon Neighborhood Association (LBNA), in partnership with the Camden Youth Engagement Project, Gethsemane and Hope Lutheran Church, Council President Johnson, Inspector Edwards, CCP/Safe, Senator Higgins and Representative Mullery, other neighborhoods in Camden, Camden Garden Club, the NorthWest Minneapolis Business Association and local business owners on Lyndale Ave N, invite the public to join us this Saturday, May 5th from 10 am-Noon, at the LBNA office at 4500 Lyndale Ave N for“Lyndale Blooms with Youth” to help us turn our neighborhoods condolences and tragedy of the murders of Richard Christianson and Michael Trinity on April 17th, into a positive story of support and celebration of youth, great neighbors, businesses and community.

“Lyndale Blooms with Youth” is the result of ideas generated from the youth leaders of the Camden Youth Engagement project and community members on what message and what type of outcome they would want the community to support to remember and honor the loss of our friends and neighbors Mr. Christianson and Mr. Trinity and to surround their memory with positive youth and positive effects in the community.

Council President Barbara Johnson, MPD Inspector Edwards will open the “Lyndale Blooms with Youth” event at the LBNA office and the Camden Youth Engagement “Krew” will be asking the other youth and attendees to team up and walk to a neighborhood business on Lyndale Ave N to meet the owners, plant flowers or pick up trash and patronize the local businesses. CCP/Safe and safety information and resources will be available at the event.

“We have our share of challenges like any other neighborhood in the city. Unfortunately, the negative actions of youth often take away from all the positive youth and their efforts in the community.” stated Ann Moe LBNA Board Chair. “Our Camden Youth Engagement project leaders came up with this positive “Lyndale Blooms with Youth” idea. We’re hopeful other youth groups, parents and families, and the community will come out to show their support of youth on Saturday and to see how Lyndale Ave N Bloom with Youth!”

LBNA has been partnering on the Camden Youth Engagement project with: Cleveland, Shingle Creek, and McKinley Neighborhood Associations, Jenny Lind and Lucy Craft Laney Community Education, Hennepin County SICE department, NorthWay Community Trust, 4-H, Youth Coordinating Board, Wells Fargo for the past year. Their Cool Camden youth-friendly places asset map is available at www.scna-mpls.org.

The needs of our 16,000 youth in the Camden area under the age of 23 are continually growing as libraries and schools close and tragic events like this shooting involving youth occur. Donations collected during the event will go towards continuing the “Lyndale Blooms with Youth” throughout the summer, and supporting the Youth Engagement Project.

The Lind-Bohanon Neighborhood Association is a twelve-year-old 501c3 Neighborhood Revitalization Program nonprofit organization, whose mission is to improve and enhance our neighborhood in the areas of housing, business, safety and community involvement.
