The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory early this morning that will remain in effect for mo of South Central Texas today until later this evening.

Record setting heat continues to build over the region prompting this advisory. The advisory area covers all South Central Texas counties along and south of the Amistad Reservoir to Uvalde to San Antonio to the Georgetown line.

The morning breeze will cool temperatures down to only 76 to 80 degrees before warming back up into the triple digits later today.  Afternoon highs are expected to range from 100 to 108... with heat indices of 105 to 110 degrees possible.  Hot and breezy conditions are expected to persist through Monday, falling only a few degrees cooler on Tuesday.

***Impacts:  Sunstroke; Heat Cramps; Heat Exhaustion with prolonged exposure and physical activity.

BE PREPARED AND CAUTIOUS!

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected.  The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.  Drink plenty of fluids... stay in air-conditioned areas... stay out of the sun... reschedule strenuous activities... wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing... and check on relatives and neighbors.4

Remember... heat stroke is an emergency... call 911.
