Sorry I didn't shovel my alley, I am 30-years old and have an SUV, and I also have cancer. I manage to get my sidewalks done, and I even help out my elderly neighbor. But by the time I finish with that, I am too tired to shovel the alley.
So before people blame others and assume the worst, stop and think about what some people might be dealing with in their lives. Get out of your narrow-minded thinking and just try to comprehend that people may have bigger issues to deal with in their lives than shoveling an alley. For God's sake, be a little compassionate.
I feel sorry for ''Someone Fed Up.'' You sound like an angry, bitter person and, well frankly I think it's pretty sad to feel that way at this wonderful time of year.

Not really.
I very much understand. I have been in the position where I could not for health reasons. (Actually, I am still NOT supposed to but I am not in as bad health some others so..) So, instead of letting it go and not clearing it out, post here and we will see what we can do to get it shoveled out for you. That was my point all along. Let someone know what's up and hopefully we can get you fixed up with someone to do it for ya.
I also know money is tight but maybe getting the word out about hiring a service to run through the alley's and or finding a group of kids who want extra money could be found. That might be it. Maybe a bunch of the boys from Marquet High School. I know money is very tight in our house as well as other people's but if the neighbors on alley's pooled their pennies maybe a plowing service could be found. It sure would save a lot of gripping out here.

I don't hear any of the whinners complaing about any of the homeowners who rent not shoveling their alley. You wonder why people are selling and getting out of this neighborhood. How many 60 - 90 yr old people you think log on to this web site... while you've got the time contact some of the landlords who rent and make sure they know they should shovel out the alley.

I hear ya...
There is a 4 family on Clybourn which uses the alley that runs behind the 55 to 600 blocks of N. 40th. So it is right on the turn of the alley. When we got home Saturday night, one of their vehicles was stuck in the alley so that we had to back up and go all the way up to the other entrance to the alley. If someone does own this building that is in the area, well, that person is not taking care of the alley or has not made arrangements with the tennants too do so either. Now too that we have enough snow, it is interesting to note that one home on that alley south of 528 does anything to the alley. Everyone else lets it go. There is too much snow not to do something. Pat got stuck behind 528 yesterday evening because he could not get up enough speed before that to get through. And I got stuck Sunday a.m. behind I think it is like 526 or 524 last Monday. Then again behind 3900 W. Clybourn. The snow is too deep and slippery back there. Thank goodness everyone north of including 534 is shoveled out.
