Howdy neighbors!

I sure do like the little house I moved into almost a month ago. It's great, but there's one serious problem.

One of my nearby neighbors has a member of the family that has put a lot of money into tricking up his car with one or more SUBWOOFERS. These are car (or house) speakers that are designed to produce sound in the ULF (Ultra Low Frequency) range. That range of sound frequency SHAKES HOUSES! I don't want my house shaken. I think most of my neighbors feel the same way about BOOM cars and ULF.

If you go online and read the facts about ULF sound, you'll find out that ULF is BAD FOR YOU. It literally can do bad things to the nervous system of the body.

I want, very much, to be regarded as a good and caring neighbor, but I have little tolerance for those who would disturb their neighbors with SUBWOOFERS.

I don't disturb others and I want the exact same courtesy back. I don't think that's too much to ask, do you?

I was woken up this morning, Wednesday, October 7th at 2:27AM by somebody's car with high power amplification. I suspect the cause is the same neighbors I mentioned in my last write. This won't do. I can't have my sleep and health ruined by some inconsiderate person.  I'm open for suggestions on how to deal with this.

This is a follow up on my last posting.

In calling around, I learned that there are no ordinances in Harris county regarding loud cars. I was mighty surprised to learn this. This just isn't right. No neighbor should be able to disturb other neighbors with their loud car audio or engine sounds.

What you can do is try to file official reports, have a police department representative come and talk to you about it, etc. If nothing else, the records will assist you in your eventual civil case.

I was given the Harris county police number: 713 221 6000.

I sure do think there should be a strict ordinance against disturbing the peace after 10 pm in residential areas. I'm amazed there isn't one already.

Most of the daytime, Saturday October 17th, one of my neighbors decided he was going to have a big party in the open garage and front yard of his house.

The music and microphone hooked into the audio system was very loud. It began some time around noon and continued past 10:30pm.

The music was so loud that even with all my house's doors and windows closed there was still the THUMP, THUMP from the music audio system.

I put up with that for more than 8 hours.

At 10:30pm, I walked over, smiling and waving. I stood on the street in front of the house and waved. After a while the home owner appeared and we began to talk.

The home owner said that playing loud music into the night was a Mexican tradition and that I was disrespecting his heritage.

I told him that I had put up with many hours of loud music; that the music was being forced on me and the other neighbors.

The homeowner said that nobody else had complained. He asked me why the neighbors nearest his house had not complained. I hazarded a guess that the others were afraid of bad response, and that perhaps they were suffering from peer pressure.

The homeowner turned the music down a little after 10:30pm but still allowed his party guests to shriek into the microphone and speakers.

Much of this Sunday afternoon the neighbor has again been playing his music audio loudly, but inside the closed garage. It's still loud. It's still disturbing the peace of the once quiet little neighborhood.

I want to set up some kind of meeting of the neighbors involved and have some binding arbitration about this.

It's really sad that folks can buy a house but don't have the slightest idea about conducting themselves in a caring thoughtful way regarding their neighbors. No wonder our nation is hurting. The concept of basic respect for others seems to have gotten lost. That's very sad.

As far as I know, there is STILL no Harris County ordinance about loud parties and loud cars. Evidently, there needs to be one.

I'd appreciate some feedback, suggestions, help, etc.
