''The Fresh Stop Project''

Nov 25, 2009

In partnership with New Roots Inc., LAMP is bringing fresh produce to the Newburg and Petersburg area in District 2 and District 10.

This is a cooperative initiative founded by New Roots to bring fresh produce to food desert communities. The residents pool their money together to buy fresh produce at wholesale prices. Each share feeds at least three people and the cost for each share is $12. You may purchase as many shares as you like. Scholarships are available for income eligible shareholders.

Our first Fresh Stop was held on Tuesday,
November 24, 2009, hosted by Newburg Apostolic Church, 4716 E. Indian Trail, Pastor Waverly Holland.

Such a tremendous turnout. We want to thank, Pastor Holland for providing the space for distribution, members of West Chestnut Street Baptist Church, all of our volunteers for volunteering, Dr. Marco Coccia, for funding the scholarships, Josh Wilcox, for transporting the produce and manual labor, and Karyn Moskowitz, founder of New Roots for this great opportunity to partner with them to provide fresh produce and help create healthier communities.

This event will be held once a month through the winter months and weekly in the summer. The next Fresh Stop will be the week of Christmas.

The initiative is open to the public and you are invited to be a shareholder, volunteer, and a supporter of this great initiative.
