Knights of Columbus Laurent Council 1305 (Muscatine) celebrated its 100th anniversary in grand style Saturday (March 8th) evening at the Muscatine Holiday Inn.
The evening began with a mass celebrated by Father Jason Crossen. The children?’s choir from Bishop Hayes Catholic School, accompanied by Sister Cheryl Demmer, provided music; servers were Squires Geddy Hilton and Andrew Rauenbuehler. Following mass, Bishop Amos Martin greeted many of the nearly 100 Knights, family members and others during a brief fellowship gathering.
After the banquet meal, presentations were made to the Council Grand Knight David Schinker by Mrs. Vera Fuller, representing the Parish Guild, and by Mrs. Sharon Froelich, representing Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
The Knights of Columbus, the largest Catholic organization in the world, is celebrating its 125 anniversary this year. In the state of Iowa, there are only 31 councils that have reached 100 years of service.
