KANDO (Kaul Avenue Neighborhood Development Organization)

April's KANDO Meeting

The meeting was held on April 13, 2010 at the Alcan Building.

The meeting was attended by eight people and began at 6:10pm.

Following the Agenda, Mike Link, the President of KANDO welcomed everyone. Next on the Agenda was the planning of the neighborhood clean up. The following was discussed and decided on:

•The clean up will begin on the corner of 64th and Bobolink at 10:00am. Bags and gloves will be supplied.

•Ron and Mike will share in the cost of the food. Ron will purchase hot dogs/buns, juice boxes, chips, ketchup, mustard, desert and supply the table, grill, utensils, charcoal.

•Liz will bring paper towels and wipes.

•There are three dumpsters that will be dropped off the Friday before – the locations were given.

•Liz will have coupons for the kids, which will be handed out after the clean up.

•A flyer announcing the event was attached to the Agenda and additional flyers were available for the landlords to pass out to the tenants.

•We will be joined by the Lighthouse kids and Liz let the group know that the Lighthouse Block Watch has also been invited and encouraged to attend.

•Probation and Parole is booked at a separate clean up that day and we may not have any clients helping us this year.

•It was noted that per the request at March’s meeting, the Police that patrol the neighborhood have been invited to join us, especially during the cookout.

The next item on the Agenda was Impact Statements for an offender in the neighborhood. The Agenda had copies of the CCAP information and there was a short discussion on the importance of doing these statements. Liz also let the group know that there will be a request with the Court to keep this person out of the neighborhood. This has been used once before and has been a success.

The next item on the Agenda was the Landlord Breakfast and an invite was attached to the Agenda. There was a short discussion on this event.

Prior to ending the meeting the group discussed rent assistance and some of the issues and concerns were shared. It was noted that one of the Landlord Breakfasts in the future could have as the guest speaker a representative from Rent Assistance.

The meeting ended at 7:00pm.
