Neighborhood crime rate rising

Posted in: Hampton Lakes Tampa
The Hoedt Road neighborhood has seen a significant increase in crime over the past six months. There have been reports of home burglaries, car vandalisms, assault and battery and other petty crimes in just the past three months.

What do you think are the causes of the rise in crime and what should/can we do about it?

My first suggestion is to mobilize the neighborhoods and create a Neighborhood Watch program - they have been very effective crime deterrents in other areas.

We must work together!

I agree. If you can't join and participate in a crime watch at least arm yourself with knowledge and tools to help you and your neighbors to fight against it. There is lots of stuff here on the net.
If you want to visit the discussion area of our page at www.neighborhoodlink/tampa/bellavista, we discuss lots of ideas on how to protect and thwart crime. Knowing your neighbor is a good place to start. I am also in the process of installing cameras with 24/7 recording. We've had our share of crime the last year also. With the economy going the way it is and the morals of the country at a low, it's time to be alert and keep an eye out at all times for any suspicious activity and don't hesitate to report it. I hope to make this meeting on the 22nd also. See you there!
