retention pond

Posted in: Farley
Can anyone tell me what is going on with the retention pond at the west end of the 13th street? The state surveyed it for a complete overhaul. That is what I was told by the surveyor. I heard last year there was going to be a park put in is this true? also alot of teenage activity going on in the wooded area. Lots of empty beer cans.

Dear Neighbor: Just today we received an email rearding this area from Cathy Holdman, Neighborhood Coordinator for the Dept. of Public Works. I sent it out to all the residents on our Farley Group Email List.

There is a project in the works regarding storm water drainage and a meeting will be held on June 10th. If you are not on the email list, please let me know and I will forward a copy of the email directly to you and add our name to our list.

Regarding the park: YES, we are trying to get the property that runs from 10th Street South to the dead end at 13th Street to be purchased by the City for use as a park for our families and for Chapelwood Creek neighborhood families. It is owned by a person out of state. He has been approached by our State Representative, Phil Hinkle and asked to donate the 4.9 acres. Mr Hinkle received a negative reply from the owner who wants to sell to a commercial business and get the highest price. He is asking an enormous amount for the property. We would fight the zoning varaiance required to make it commercial. I'm working on another angle and will be glad to talk to you about that. You can call me or email be at the above email address for more details.
