An Answer

We did a quick count of the folks involved in our neighborhood, the ones who actually donate time or effort to improve the neighborhood. We found approximately 7% of our neighbors are involved leaving 93% who are not involved. The goal would be to get some of that 93% to get involved for a different take on how things are going around here. And the guy at 5959 is one of those 7%, he has been an active productive participant in this neighborhood for years.

I just want to say that even though I may not plant a flower at the entrance or come to a board meeting, that doesn't mean that I'm not an active member of this community. Many of the members of this community, have a well maintained home, yard, and watch out for their neighbors. When the hail came about 2 years ago, almost every home got the repairs needed to maintain their appearance and to prevent further damage. Being active invloves so much more than meetings and message boards, it includes talking to your nieghbors over the back yard fence, and reporting crime. I'm not sure how you came up with 7%, but I'm sure that if you actually knew everyone in this neighborhood and what they do to be a good neighbor and conrtibutor to this community, I think that your numbers may change.

We agree

I totally agree. Let me just say, we actually volunteered in the past for things and were never contacted so we gave up. We feel we are active in the community even though we have never served on the board. We always keep up our property and maintain the appearance and attend the meetings when we can. Maybe what we need is a community event so we can get to know more of our neighbors. We have been in this neighborhood for over 10 years and there has never been any kind of social event.
